On February 15, a group of students traveled to Stockbridge, Massachusetts to spend a weekend with the Marian Missionaries of Divine Mercy and Fr. Michael Gaitley, MIC. While they were there, the students were privileged to join the missionaries for both prayer and fun. In addition, many of them also attended Mass and confession at the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy.
Mixed in among the schedule was a discussion of G. K. Chesterton’s Orthodoxy, a bible study with the Missionaries, and time with Fr. Gaitley. Most of all, however, this weekend gave the attending students a chance to step away from daily studies and rediscover God’s love and mercy.
As one student, Evelin Jimenez ’19 observed, “This weekend was a good reminder not to get lost in the noise of the world.” Remarking on the weekend, she pointed out that it had been a much-needed reminder of things learned but often forgotten in the spiritual life, especially when it comes to God’s love for us. “It was nice to feel that love,” Evelin observed.
