Magdalen College of the Liberal Arts offers a Catholic Leadership Scholarship in recognition of the need for Catholic leaders to be well formed in philosophy, theology, literature, the fine arts and history. A Magdalen College education equips its students to lead the next generation in truth, hope and charity.
The Catholic Leadership Scholarship is a $18,400/year scholarship for four years, totaling $73,600. This highly competitive four-year scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman whose application demonstrates Catholic leadership. To be considered for the Catholic Leadership Scholarship, applicants must complete all components of their college application by March 5. In addition, the Catholic Leadership Scholarship Application must be submitted by March 5. Finalists will be invited to interview, and the winner of the scholarship will be announced on March 19.
The student who is awarded this scholarship will have 15 days to accept the scholarship and enroll in the college. If this deadline passes, the award will be given to the next eligible candidate.
The Catholic Leadership Scholarship is offered as part of the total financial aid package, not in addition to it. Any student who wins the Catholic Leadership Scholarship will be ineligible for any additional Magdalen institutional aid (with the exception of the Legacy Award). Students are still encouraged to apply for Federal Aid and/or outside scholarships.
Recipients of the college’s Catholic Leadership Scholarship must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 during their four years and demonstrate leadership on campus as assessed by the Dean of Students. He or she must submit a summary of their on-campus leadership activities to the Dean of Students at the end of each semester.
