Magdalen College presents: Thomas Zeman and Mary Jane Rupert
Performing piano and harp works by Bach, Haydn, Schubert, Dvorak, and more.
Friday, February 6, at 7:30 pm. in the College Auditorium.
Admission is free. Dress attire.
Thomas Edward Zeman is the Composer-in-Residence at St. John Cantius Parish in Chicago. He is vice president of the Chicago Camerata, an organization of several chamber music groups. He has also performed on the Chicago Symphony Chamber Music Series. With the Betty Haag Academy of Music, he plays piano for student and guest violin soloists and for the violin ensemble, for local concerts and on tour. He has composed solo works, orchestral works, choral works, and chamber works, and believes that music, whether it is for concert or for worship, should have a positive influence on the listener.
Mary Jane Rupert, acclaimed as a concert pianist and harpist, has performed throughout the world from Carnegie Recital Hall to the Beijing Concert Hall. She has appeared with symphony orchestras and chamber music groups across the U.S., including performances with the Boston Philharmonic, Louisville (Kentucky) Symphony, Mannheim Steamroller, The New Philharmonica, and others. She records for North Star and Harmony Hill. Dr. Rupert serves on the music faculties of Tufts University, Wellesley College, Boston College and MIT and has taught at Oberlin College, Indiana University, Western Michigan University, and elsewhere.
